Sarra Douik Trio: Le voci del jazz

An evening dedicated to the great voices of jazz, from Billie Holiday to Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, through the standards that have marked the history of this genre. A musical journey that celebrates jazz in its ability to reinvent itself, between contamination and multiculturalism.

Sarra Douik is a Tunisian singer and Oud player now living in Italy. Her open approach to different types of music allows her to integrate very harmoniously the sounds of her tradition with other musical worlds. In recent years she has been chosen to be part of projects such as OneBeat in the United States in 2019 and in Algeria in 2022 which gave her the opportunity to collaborate with artists such as Juliano Abramovay and Andrea Hoyos to record her first composition “Netfakker” and publish it in March 2019 with FoundSound Nation.

Since 2020 she has been part of “Medinea” (MEDiterranean INcubator of Emerging Artists), a project supported by the European Union with which she has performed various concerts in Tunisia, France, Belgium, Slovenia where she created and played original music with artists from all over the Mediterranean area under the coordination of Fabrizio Cassol and recently in London, the last stop of the tour she did as a soloist with the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée under the direction of Evan Rogister.

In 2023 she was invited by Amman Jazz Festival in Jordan and Visa for Music Festival in Morocco after being part of the “Halaqat” project in Belgium in 2022 to develop the project with the support of Goethe-Institute and Bozar Bruxelles. Since 2023 she has been collaborating with Marco Centasso in his project UmWelt with which she won “Nuova Generazione Jazz 2024” and with whom she recorded an album that will be released in 2025.

In 2024 the album in which she was part as a singer, oudist and composer “Live at Festival d’Aix en Provence – Medinea Session” was released under the Fuga Libera label. In the same year the album “Suite Vicentina” by Bacàn was released in which she had recorded two pieces written with Eleonora Sacchi “Wahida” and “Connessioni” and a piece by Leonardo Franceschini “la contessa di Monte Berico”. Sarra graduated in Jazz singing at the A. Pedrollo Conservatory in Vicenza where she is currently attending the second level academic course and is dedicated to the search for personal forms of expression through music.”
