An Evening of Wayne Shorter: A Duo Exploration
Paolo Vianello & Luigi Sella
The shared passion for the figure and work of Wayne Shorter – a visionary composer and one of the most influential saxophonists of the 20th century – forms the inspiring nucleus of this project. It has brought together two musicians in a collaborative exploration of sonorities, expressive spaces, and interpretive intensity.
The duo format allows for a heightened appreciation of both the harmonic depth and the pulsating energy that permeate Shorter’s entire compositional oeuvre. The proposed repertoire includes some of the master’s most emblematic pieces, such as Ana Maria, El Gaucho, and This Is for Albert, alongside other carefully selected works that highlight his stylistic variety and evocative power.
The fruit of this collaboration will be realized in the album Infant Eyes, to be released in September 2025 under the Caligola Records label. The recording took place in November 2024 at the “Arte Suono” studio, renowned for the exceptional quality of its productions and its meticulous attention to sonic detail.
