Building on the success of the “GOTI DE FORNASA” experience, which unfolded over the 2022-2024 triennium, the Designer Veneti collective has announced a new research initiative. This project will forge a union between the esteemed artistry of Murano glass and the distinguished winemaking traditions of the Veneto hinterland.
The collective will engage in developing a project centered on a specific wine and its tasting experience. This will involve a collaborative process with the producing winery to conceive a glass vessel whose form is meticulously designed to enhance the intrinsic characteristics of the wine itself.
The selection of Murano glass, the very essence of The Venice Glass Week, facilitates a seamless connection between the Veneto region’s premier agricultural product and its iconic city, Venice, creating a perfect synergy of form and flavor.
The core challenge of this project is to elevate the distinct qualities of the wine—its bouquet, color, and structure—through the medium of glass. The vessel will thus transcend its function as a mere container to become an element of enhancement. In dialogue with the winery, each designer will conceptualize an object that will subsequently be brought to life in the furnace through the masterful skill of a Murano glassmaker. The term “Goti de Fornasa” refers to the historical tradition of furnace glasses, uniquely crafted by glass masters for their own use, embodying a spirit of authentic craftsmanship and creativity that this new project aims to celebrate and reinterpret.
