Discover the Italian voices that have left an indelible mark on the great national songbook, sharing passion, style, and cultural identity with the world. From Italian-style swing to jazz infusions, from the intimate singer-songwriter tradition to the most celebratory canzone d’autore, this touring show pays tribute to Italy through its most iconic male figures.
A narrative and musical journey spanning eras and genres: from the nostalgic atmosphere of Carosello to black-and-white cinema, and the songs that captivated international audiences. Italian vocals have always been defined by a recognizable timbre, shaped by the language, its dialects, and a unique interpretative flair capable of adapting to any style.
From the bakelite records of Natalino Otto to the voice of Cinecittà, Vittorio De Sica. From the jazz of Nicola Arigliano to the irreverent swing of Fred Buscaglione; from Domenico Modugno—the man behind “Nel blu dipinto di blu”—to the nighttime poets of Rome, such as Fred Bongusto and Franco Califano.
The journey continues through the poetry of the singer-songwriter pioneers, like Piero Ciampi and Luigi Tenco, set to music by a young Ennio Morricone; the sentimentalism of Gino Paoli, through the charismatic style of Johnny Dorelli, and on to the urlatori (“shouters”) of the economic boom. This era features the Italian-made beat of the Clan, I Ribelli, and Demetrio Stratos—the definitive interpreter of an Italy in transformation, whose influence transcended national borders to inspire artists around the globe.
“Divo” is more than a show: it is a journey into collective memory, a musical tale that spans generations. It is an opportunity to listen, sing, and rediscover the sonic roots of a country that has made music one of its most authentic expressions.
