Bearer of novel viewpoints
Venice is one of the most photographed cities in the world, but photographing it is far from easy.
Taking it in with a glance and admiring it from above allows us to capture its labyrinthine essence in a single shot. The finest vantage points stretch from high above the historic center—where the intricate web of *calli* (alleys), *campi* (squares), and canals reveals itself—to the vast horizons of the islands and the Lagoon.
In his panoramic shots, Marco Contessa seems to share not just the city's colors and atmosphere, but above all the way he sees it, along with the emotions that arise from this photographic embrace.
«"This was Venice, the flattering and suspect beauty—this city, half fairy-tale and half snare-for-the-stranger, in whose moldering air art once blossomed so luxuriously, and which had inspired musicians with strains to lull and sluggardize..."
(Der Tod in Venedig, 1912) Thomas Mann
